About UsedVanIsle Classifieds

UsedVanIsle is built for people on Vancouver Island and the Gulf Islands to meet in person and exchange items safely, simply, and respectfully. The platform encourages reliability and protects your privacy with Canadian-hosted infrastructure.

No American Ownership

This site is 100% Canadian owned, built in Victoria by PureWebMedia.biz (serving Vancouver Island for 25 years), and hosted on Canadian servers. When UsedVictoria abruptly closed in January 2026, we built a better alternative focused on accountability and privacy of data. Used.ca has recently re-opened and is owned by an American conglomerate, Carpenter Media Group (a Mississippi-based company).

UsedVanIsle is proudly 100% Canadian, powered by Pacific salmon, Saskatoon Berry Pies, Nanaimo Bars, and Winnipeg Rye Bread.

How Does it Work?

Find & Message Browse listings and message sellers privately. You'll receive email notifications when you get replies.

Arrange a Meetup When you're ready to meet, the seller sends a meetup invitation with a specific date and time. The listing shows as Pending while a meetup is scheduled.

Follow Through Accepted meetups are commitments, so please show up on time or cancel early if plans change. Reliability matters, and the platform encourages accountability.

After the Meetup Sellers update the listing status. Sold listings remain visible briefly before unpublishing automatically.

What the Statuses Mean

Available – Open for inquiries and meetup arrangements
Pending – Meetup scheduled; only existing conversations continue
Sold – Transaction complete; listing unpublishes automatically

What UsedVanIsle Doesn't Do

We don't handle payments, mediate disputes, or act as a middleman. Transactions happen directly between you and your neighbours. UsedVanIsle does not:

  • Handle payments
  • Mediate disputes
  • Act as a middleman
  • Publicly score users

Transactions happen directly between neighbours.

Built for Communities
